In FIDLAR’s new music video for “Why Generation”, the LA skate punk band uses emojis to sum up what it’s like living in a world that we choose to share with technology. The animated video opens with drummer, Max Kuehn, eating a burrito and watching an iPhone video that shows avatars of each of the members of FIDLAR walking through an emoji-filled minefield. In this ‘alternate’ reality, we witness the social messaging characters avoid a head-on collision as they snap photos of zoo animals and guzzle down burgers.

The video perfectly captures the message of the song, which asks, “How the hell, how the hell are we supposed to know/ how to live in the 21st century/ when every move you make, everyone can see?”

Watch “Why Generation” off of FIDLAR’s sophomore release, Too, below:

Spoler alert: There’s a great laugh out loud moment three minutes and ten seconds into the song.
