Riot Fest returns to Chicago on September 16th-18th for its 12th year and the lineup is just as crazy as every shopping plaza in America on Christmas Eve. The annual three day music festival has previously announced the original Misfits Reunion and posted teaser videos about prospective 2016 performers. Today the first wave of bands for Riot Fest & Carnival has been revealed and this is the lineup we’ve all been waiting for.

Chicago will be happy to hear that our first prediction was correct! Brand New will be headlining the 2016 Riot Fest. Meanwhile, frontman Jesse Lacey may be even happier to know that Riot Fest has booked Morrissey for this year’s festivities. The Specials, Ween, Rob Zombie, The Descendants, Refused, The Deftones, The Foo Fighters’ side project Chevy Metal, and Fugazi’s side project Girls Against Boys will also join us in the deep-dish pizza capital of the USA this September.

Pop punk’s not dead this year, either. Motion City Soundtrack, who previously announced their farewell tour will play one more final show in Chicago. Meanwhile, Thursday, The Anniversary, and Set Your Goals who all reunited in the last year have been added to the lengthy list of emo and pop punk bands to play the annual music festival. Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, Glassjaw, Balance & Composure, Somos, Bad Religion, Andrew WK, NOFX, Big D & The Kids Table, The Wonder Years, Basement, Turnover, Tigers Jaw, Citizen, and Touché Amoré are also on our must-see list.

Other notable performers include Method Man & Redman, Meat Puppets, Nas, GZA, Tiger Army, The Hives, Dillinger Escape Plan, Leftover Crack, GWAR, The Falcon, Neck Deep, Death Grips, Pepper, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Pierce The Veil, Diarrhea Planet, Hippo Campus, and Can’t Swim.

Social Distortion will join us at the Chicago Riot Fest for a special 20th anniversary performance of White Light, White Heat, White Trash, while The Hold Steady will perform Boys & Girls in America to ring in the album’s 10th anniversary.

The best news is that this is only the first wave of Chicago performers. More announcements surrounding artists, vendors, rides, and attractions for what consistently proves to be the best weekend in music is still to come! Tickets to Riot Fest are currently available for purchase through the Riot Fest website. For the Denver Riot Fest & Rodeo lineup, you can click here.
