Who the fuck is Matt Skiba? That’s a question no one is asking after seeing Blink 182 perform at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield last Friday night. The Mark, Matt, and Travis show is just as carefree and nostalgic as Blink 182 1.0, but with a certain chemistry the band’s been lacking in years.
From adolescent favorites like “What’s My Age Again” and “Happy Holidays, You Bastard”, to new singles like “Bored To Death” and “San Diego” off California — one of our top albums of 2016 — Blink 182 played each song as if they had something to prove. More importantly, they looked like they enjoyed every second of it. That’s all that we could ever want from a fun loving band that got us through our awkward teenage years.
Blink 182 closed the 24 song set by blasting confetti over the audience as they played “Damnit”, while the word ‘FUCK’ remained ignited across the Xfinity stage. I guess this is growing up?
