Who could forget The Faint, the Omaha band that hypnotized its listeners with songs like “Worked Up So Sexual” and encouraged the most emo kids in high school to come out of their shells and onto the dance floor?

Although his time in the Faint was brief, the band was created by Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes and quickly found a good home at Omaha’s beloved label, Saddle Creek Records. Their first three albums bore some of the electro-punk band’s most popular songs including “Sex Is Personal”, “Agenda Suicide”, “Desperate Guys”, and the aforementioned, “Worked Up So Sexual”. The Faint has gone on to release records that appeal to Cursive and Daft Punk fans alike, while touring with everyone from Bright Eyes to Ladytron.

Yesterday the Faint debuted a new single called “Young & Realistic.” The catchy synth-pop track has the lyrical depth of the band’s previous material and as vocalist Todd Fink puts it, the song “goes in The Faint Danse Party folder” (a reference to the Faint’s defining album Danse Macabre). Along with the new single, they have also announced a fall tour with 1970s sensations, Gang of Four.
