Yesterday Riot Fest posted this static video that reminded us of those old box-shaped television sets in the living rooms of our childhood homes. One minute and thirty eight seconds into the video (clever Riot Fest, real clever), what many perceived to be a Misfits logo appeared in the background of all the static. Riot Fest fans began to debate whether this meant that the Misfits would headline this year’s two stop music festival and if so, which version of the Misfits would play the event?
This morning Riot Fest confirmed the unthinkable, what the band said would never happen. For the first time since 1983, original frontman Glenn Danzig would join original bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein for an official Misfits reunion!
The legendary horror punk band retained its initial lineup from 1977-1983 before the musical chairs of band members began. During those first seven years, the Misfits released two quintessential albums, Walk Among Us and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood featuring classics like “Skulls” “Astro Zombies” and “Die, Die My Darling”.
Decades later, the original Misfits members will perform at both the Riot Fest & Rodeo on September 2nd-4th in Denver and the Riot Fest & Carnival on September 16th-18th in Chicago. They will join the list of past Riot Fest reunions from artists like the Replacements, Naked Raygun, Screeching Weasel, and Chiodos. Tickets for Riot Fest are currently available for purchase here.
