UPDATE: Radiohead has released a brand new music video for “Burn the Witch”, the first single off their forthcoming album.
Typically when a band deletes its internet presence, it means that something big is approaching. Radiohead fans, it’s time to start placing your wagers. Not only has Radiohead’s entire website turned white as snow but their Tweets and Facebook posts have been removed from their respective social media pages.
According to this article in The Guardian, Brian Message of the band’s management team has previously stated that a new Radiohead album would be out in June. Radiohead is also scheduled to play various dates in North America and Europe this summer, presumably in support of that album.
More likely than not, this is just Radiohead’s way of building the suspense leading up to their ninth studio release, the follow up to 2011’s King of Limbs. But hey, your guess is as good as ours.
Earlier this weekend and concurrently with the social media blackout, Radiohead fans specifically in the U.K. reported that they received cryptic “Burn the Witch” leaflets in the mail reading: “Sing the song of sixpence that goes ‘Burn the witch. We know where you live.” Clever or creepy? You decide.
